Study Hard - Play a Game of Educational Bingo!
Most of us remember playing bingo back in pre-school. You may not recall the details, but you know that you had fun. What you probably don’t remember are the lessons you learned from playing educational bingo games. In fact, Bingo has been used as a children’s learning tool for centuries.
Early Days of Educational Bingo
The game of Bingo had its humble beginnings in Italy’s state run lottery - Lo Gioco del Lotto d’Itallia. This lottery was played in much the same way that Bingo is played today. Over time, the French adopted this popular game in the form of a national lottery called Le Lotto. Europeans loved playing this game for the incredible winning potential that it offered. But in the 1800’s the Germans created a Le Lotto style game for use in their educational system. This was the first place the Bingo was used to help teach children mathematics.
Educational Bingo Today
Nowadays, bingo is used to teach more than just multiplication tables. Companies that manufacture learning tools for teachers offer hundreds of educational Bingo games of every subject and style. English teachers can pick from language bingo games - like word recognition or spelling Bingo. Social Studies teachers can choose a geography bingo game - like state capitals, world capitals, or landmark Bingo. Or there are the traditional style mathematics bingo games. Mathematics Bingo games help students learn currency recognition, adding, multiplication, fractions, etc. There are even simple Bingo games for pre-schoolers (you remember those) that teach shape and pattern recognition.
Bingo Games for Fun and Learning
There are dozens of ways to use Bingo to turn lessons into fun and games. Teachers and parents alike are making use of this incredible learning tool to help little ones absorb information. It’s the way to get children to practice everything from science to social studies. After all, what kid would turn down a game of Bingo?
